Call for Submissions from Students – The future of Air Quality and Climate Change: Big ideas for complex problems!

25 May

CASANZ invites you to submit an idea for presentation at the inaugural “Emerging Air Quality Professionals Symposium”.

“The future of Air Quality and Climate Change: Big ideas for complex problems”

The Symposium is headlined by Professor Tim Flannery, who will engage delegates with an inspiring presentation titled “Climate Change and the Third Way”. The event program is shown below.

The Ideas Forum within the Symposium will be a thought provoking session designed to inspire and challenge. We are seeking delegates to present an idea covering one of the following topics:
• Challenges in air quality and climate science
• How best to contribute to solutions
• What are the benefits of citizen science?
• Is politics wrecking public debate on climate change?
• What is the next big thing in air quality and why?
• Why is air quality the best industry to work in?
• Is the air quality issue solved in Australia and New Zealand?

Ideas submissions should be made to the CASANZ Office in the form of a short, written summary outlining the key points and basis for the idea. Submissions which challenge the status quo and/or represent “out of the box” thinking will be selected for presentation at the Ideas Forum. Oral presentations will be less than 10 minutes with the speaker also invited to participate in the panel concluding the Forum.

Submission Guidelines:

Submissions should summarise your concept in 300 words or less. Your name, university and contact information must be included. Please submit via email to the Administration Office: Email.

A subset of submissions, representing a range of views, will be shortlisted for presentation at the event. If your submission is selected, you will be required to give an oral presentation outlining your concept during the Ideas Forum. The presentation will be less than 10 minutes including question time. Presenting delegates may also participate in the interactive panel session at the conclusion of the session.

Submissions are welcome from undergraduate and post graduate students. Shortlisted student delegates will attend the Symposium as a guest of CASANZ. The registration fee for non-shortlisted students is A$250.

Should you have any questions regarding your submission, please contact Vicki Callaway, General Manager
at: +61 3 9723 6588 or email: Email.

Submissions close: Monday, 5 June, 2017.
