Third year coastal field trip (GEOS3220 Coastal Processes) 16 – 22 February.
Our accommodation was at Elizabeth Beach Caravan Park, and the class room was the beautiful beaches; Elizabeth, Blueys and Shelley beach in the Pacific Palms area. On the field trip students engaged in various field techniques including surveying, deploying pressure sensors, grain size analysis, wave set-up measurements using stilling wells, and measuring sand accretion / erosion using beach rods. Students then analysed the data that they collected in the field using QGIS.
