Bachelor of Development Studies students at UON celebrated the end of year this week with a picnic in the sun with lots of yummy pizza. No-one went away hungry! It was a fantastic opportunity for students at all levels to mingle, celebrate the year’s achievements, chat about the upcoming year in the program and plans for next year.
The end of year function was followed by a “Meet the Graduate” session with Lauren Pollock. Lauren has been working on country with Indigenous people and was kind enough to share her experiences with current students in the program. Lauren gave an inspiring talk about her work with Indigenous youth and reflected on how she can now put into action the skills she gained as a Development Studies student. Lauren also made a guest appearance in GEOG3300 Rethinking Development later in the day. A big thank you to Lauren for taking some time out of her break in Newcastle to give students some insights into current development practice.
Good luck to all Development Studies students with their end of year exams!
