We are holding an information session for 3rd year students that are interested in studying Honours in 2018. The session is on the 12th of September 2017 starting at 9am.
You can find further information and requirements below.
We have some great students completing several interesting and diverse projects. You can read about our current Honours students and their projects here. Our students Laura and Bec have kindly shared their insights and what they have gained from the process so far.
Laura Mason noted that,
Honours has been a wonderful opportunity to critically engage with topics of personal interest to me, while under the full support and guidance of my supervisors, and the Geography discipline. Throughout the Honours year I have had the opportunity to refine my research and writing skills, connect with local community leaders and learn from the experienced and welcoming faculty. Honours has been challenging, intriguing and above all worthwhile. If you are unsure of your next steps after graduation, consider further research as an opportunity to develop your professional skills, and your desirability to employers.
Bec Scott stated,
Skills wise, honours has definitely helped improve my writing and time management. It’s also my first introduction to proper research, which has been an exciting experience! Working through ethics applications and understanding all the organisation that goes into recruiting participants, etc., has been particularly eye opening.
I think I’ve enjoyed meeting people the most. The honours cohort this year is amazing, and my project has put me in touch with people that I’d never have had the chance to meet otherwise.
If you are considering Honours and fit the requirements, it would be great to see you at this upcoming event!
