It’s that time of year again when university students start to think about getting back to study.
I remember this time of year as a tug-of-war in my head between staying in holiday mode and the curiosity and excitement when thinking about the new courses I would be studying and what the year would bring.
Some of you will be returning for another year at university or coming straight from high school or a foundation program. For others, it may have been a long time since you have studied anything other than the back of your eyelids! No matter where you have come from or what path you have taken to get here, the destination is the same and there are some things you can do to prepare for a successful year.
For those of you just starting out at UoN, this website will help take you through the important steps such as how to accept your offer, enrol in courses, get a student card, and all of those other things that will help prepare you to start your first year at university. Student mentors can also help you get settled in to life here at UoN and orientation week is great for…well getting oriented!
Planning for a successful year means knowing where to go if you need some help. UoN has fantastic support services that students can access for a broad range of concerns. You can book an appointment with a Student Support Advisor (SSA) by calling (02) 4921 5801, the SSA will meet with you to have a chat and help you access the most appropriate supports here at UoN or in the community.
For those of you whose study skills need a brush-up (or a complete overhaul), keep an eye out for next week’s blog which will talk about study skills, time-management and getting organised for Semester 1.
