Dr Fiedler has profound experience in the thermal characterization of composite and cellular materials. As the single CI in the ARC Project DP1094696 ‘Design of high performance heat sink composites’ Dr Fielder has developed novel compact heat sink composites for temperature control and thermal energy storage. Furthermore, Dr Fiedler is a leading researcher in the thermal characterization of cellular metals with over 30 peer-reviewed publications in this area in international high quality journals.
His reserach focus is the determination of thermal conductivity and diffusivity combining experimental measurements with numerical simulation. Over the past 5 years, Dr Fiedler took a leading role in advancing Lattice Monte Carlo Methods for thermal analysis based on micro-computed tomography data of real samples.
Over the past 5 years, Dr Fiedler has been leading multiple industry consultancies on thermal characterization and transient heat transfer.
